How is organic cotton different from conventional cotton?
Conventional cotton is grown from genetically modified seeds, using chemical pesticides and fertilizers. In fact, cotton farming is responsible for the consumption of 16% of the world's total production of insecticides and 7% of its pesticides, making it the world's dirtiest crop! This is extremely harmful to the health of cotton farmers all over the world, not to mention the impacts on the environment.
Organic cotton is grown from non-modified seeds, free from chemicals and toxins. It is not only better for the environment, but also for the health of the farmers. As the toxins and chemicals used in the production of non-organic cotton never leave the material, the benefits of buying organic cotton extend to the health of the end consumer as well.
Why organic cotton baby clothes?
Babies' skin can be up to 5 times thinner and more sensitive than adults' skin. It is also much more absorbent. This means that your baby is more likely to absorb any toxic materials in baby clothes made with conventional cotton, and more likely to experience skin irritation and allergies as well. They also inhale the chemical residues present in the fibres of conventional cotton.
Organic cotton is not only free of toxic chemicals and pesticides and better for the environment, but it is also softer and more comfortable, and is better for your babies' skin. Organic cotton also tends to last longer as its fibres have not been damaged by chemicals during the growing and knitting process - making for a better quality product.
Where are Sapling's products manufactured?
We source our cotton, and manufacture our garments in India. We use only organic cotton, grown in certified organic farms. Our knitting factories are all certified organic, as are our dying factories, and our manufacturing plant, and we use highly skilled local craftspeople.
How would you describe the fit of your products? (Size Chart)
Our products generally fit "true to size" - in general, they are larger than your average European baby brand, and possibly slightly smaller than your average American baby brand. Some of our products are designed to be larger on purpose - providing extra length in the cuffs to be rolled up or down for extra growing room, and some of our tees are a slouch fit where noted in the descriptions. Our pants are a snug fit, while our bodysuits tend to be on the larger side.
What are your shipping fees?
We offer free shipping for all Australian orders over $100, and for all international orders over $150. For orders under $100 in Australia, we charge a flat rate of $7.95 for standard shipping, and $10.95 for express shipping. All international orders under $150 are charged at $19.95 and will ship via DHL.
How long will it take to receive my order?
If your order is placed before 2pm, we try to ship it the same day. If it is placed after 2pm, we will ship it on the next business day.
Shipping times vary depending on which shipping method is chosen, and depending on the destination. All of our orders are shipped from our location in Adelaide, South Australia. We use a broad range of shipping methods including Australia Post and DHL, and several courier companies.
Standard shipping usually takes 1-2 business days within South Australia; 3-5 business days to most major cities within Australia; and up to 7-10 business days for remote areas.
International orders are shipped via DHL and accurate shipping times can be obtained from DHL's online calculator.
Do you offer discounts and incentives for first time and loyal customers?
We offer a 10% discount to customers who sign up to our mailing list. Joining our mailing list also gives you access to frequent specials offered only to our subscribers. We do also offer a discount code to those who write a review for any products they have purchased, as your feedback is very valuable to us.
What is your returns policy?
If you receive a Sapling child baby product that is not as described we will replace the item or refund the purchase price. Claims must be made within 7 days from the time you receive the goods. Please email us at email@example.com within that time if you are not satisfied with your purchase so that we can resolve any problems.
This refund policy does not apply to goods which have been worn or used, damaged after delivery, or if any attempt has been made to alter the product or if they have been dropped or broken. All products must be returned in their original condition. All postage and insurance costs are to be paid by the buyer.
